The Spirit of 1876 Gift Guide For Campers & Overlanders

It’s that time of year again. If you’re anything like us, you’re stressing out as you run out of time to find the perfect gifts for your favorite people. And if your favorite people are the kind who deem themselves “outdoorsy” or whose weekend activities tend to involve campfires or backroads, it’s the time of year when you awkwardly gift them yet another headlamp or stainless steel water bottle that they’ll smile and thank you for, then continue only to use that one dusty old flask that’s perpetually coated in a suspicious looking film. Awkward.
But really, you have no idea what the heck to buy these people to slap on their trucks or add to their absurdly packed gear closet. We’re here to help.
Our Favorite Stocking Stuffers For Your Favorite Overlander
Let’s start small with some stocking stuffers that the campers in your life will actually use.
Spirit of 1876 Hats

Yes, we mostly carry other brands’ products in our store, but did you know that we also have our own merch line? We’re not talking the kind of generic low-quality merch where brands plaster their logo on an itchy Hanes t-shirt that inevitably ends up in a donation box. We’ve designed a line of hats, t-shirts, and hoodies that overlanders actually want to wear.
For that reason, we’re humbly going to begin this guide of gifts for campers with our very own Spirit of 1876 hats. They make the perfect stocking stuffer for campers and overlanders—especially those local to Colorado who love our shop and want to sport their Spirit gear in the wild. You know you’ve run into a real one when you see another person repping an 1876 hat on the trail.
Show your favorite Rigs & Coffee regular that you get them this holiday season, by getting them a Spirit of 1876 hat in one of our many rad designs.
The Perfect Bungee

There’s no such thing as too many tie downs. Whether strapping down gear to a roof rack or rigging together a makeshift tarp shelter, hiking socks and bungee cords are two things that campers and overlanders can’t get enough of.
The Perfect Bungee is available in multiple sizes— 12”, 18”, 24”, and 36”. We love this elevated innovation on a camp essential. Why have saggy, sun-damaged old cords that have long lost their elasticity when you can have polyurethane bungee cords that are elevated in both aesthetics and functionality? Polyurethane is resistant to sun damage and retains elasticity better than traditional rubber bungees. It stretches more easily and snaps back to its base length more reliably. It’s the stocking stuffer overlanders will use time and time again, but never think to ask for.
Under The Tree
These are gifts for campers that make a big impact at the campsite or the tailgate party, but are still small enough to wrap and put under the tree.
The Hekla Stainless Steel LavaBox

Propane fire pits have had a bad rap among campers for, essentially, just not working very well. The heat output never seemed to hold a candle to a “real” campfire, and the typical little blue flame lacks ambience.
LavaBox Portable Campfire changed the game. The Hekla is a stainless steel portable propane campfire the size of an ammo can. It’s super durable and compact, but the reason we recommend it as one of our favorite gifts for campers and overlanders is the crazy heat output and huge flame. The Hekla won’t think twice about singeing your eyebrows off.
We also love LavaBox for its versatility. There are two separate propane ports, depending on the type of flame you want. One inlet produces a blue propane-grill-style flame meant for cooking on. On the other side, you get the quintessential orange, hot as hell campfire flame. Both are completely adjustable. This is one piece of gear that kills two birds—it’s a replacement for a traditional campfire that can legally be burned during fire bans, and it takes the place of a camp stove/grill as well, saving room in the rig.
Kammock Crosswing Awning

The Kammock Crosswing Awning is available in two sizes, two colors, and at a price point that’s not completely unreasonable for gifting. Every overlander needs an awning to chill and crack beers under or get out of the rain.
What makes the Kammock awning cool is its retractable design. There are no cords or poles to deal with. Deploying it is easily a one-man job, and packing it back away is just as painless. It pulls straight out from the aluminum housing, and the X-Frame design locks in, keeping it stable and sturdy. It’s one of the more slick awning designs out there and a gift that the campers and overlanders in your life are sure to be stoked about.

In The Driveway
Have you always dreamed of giving someone one of those “you get a car!” moments that you see in commercials? One where they walk out onto the driveway and see the truck with the giant red bow and totally lose it? These gifts have that same effect, without having to buy an entire truck.
Decked Drawers

Whether for organizing Overland gear or hauling tools of the trade, you can pretty much bet that every dude with a truck wants a Decked drawer system.
The quality is the highest in the game—designed and manufactured right here in good old ‘Merica. They’re rugged, don’t require any special treatment, and fit most mid and full-size trucks. The drawers even have dividers built in, keeping the most chaotic gear collections in order.
There are other drawer systems out there, but Decked has been proven time and time again—like over 400,000 times—so we feel good recommending them to gift to your favorite people. Decked drawers are easy to give. All you need is the year, make, and model of the truck. We even offer installation here at Spirit of 1876.
RSI SmartCap

If you really want to go all out on a gift for your favorite overlander, nothing says best Christmas ever like an RSI Smartcap. They’re impeccably engineered and look sleek on any truck. Not to mention weather-proof, dust-proof, and constructed of automotive-grade stainless steel—unlike a lot of other truck caps made of fiberglass, which could be considered less durable.
SmartCap components allow for a variety of options for campers and overlanders to organize gear in their truck bed and the gullwing side doors allow east access from any angle. A little bit of overkill for the annual secret santa exchange? Maybe. But nothing says creme de la creme of gifts for campers and overlanders like ordering a SmartCap to have installed on their truck (we can help with that part).
