OPENROAD 4WD Is Now at Spirit of 1876

We’re officially now carrying OPENROAD 4WD at Spirit of 1876.
This video isn’t a deep install. It’s not a polished product hype reel. It’s an announcement — and a real conversation about where the overland industry is right now.
Because let’s be honest…
The market has changed.
The Reality of Lower-Cost Overland Gear
There are a lot of lower-cost alternatives hitting the overland space right now. Many of them are overseas manufactured. Some are solid. Some absolutely are not.
And price alone doesn’t tell you the whole story.
We’ve seen premium brands raise prices year after year. At the same time, new companies are entering the market offering similar-looking products at a fraction of the cost. That naturally raises the question:
Is it comparable? Or is it cutting corners?
At Spirit of 1876, we don’t bring something into the shop just because it fills a price gap. It has to pass what we call the Spirit test — meaning we’ve had our hands on it, inspected the materials, looked at the hardware, and evaluated whether we’d actually run it ourselves.
So far, OPENROAD has passed.

What We’re Introducing
We’re excited to now carry products from OPENROAD 4WD — and here’s what we’re starting with:
PeakRoof LT Series Aluminum Hard Shell Roof Top Tent
A sleek, aluminum hard shell rooftop tent designed for quick deployment and durability. Hard shell designs offer:
-
Faster setup and teardown
-
Better aerodynamics than soft shells
-
Stronger weather resistance
-
Lower profile while driving
For those looking to step into the RTT world without jumping straight into ultra-premium pricing, this is worth a serious look.
Aluminum Retractable Tonneau Cover
A retractable aluminum tonneau cover adds:
-
Lockable security
-
Weather protection
-
Clean, low-profile appearance
-
Better fuel efficiency compared to an open bed
This is especially appealing for overlanders who want security without committing to a full truck cap.
Universal Fit Adjustable Bed Rack for Trucks
An adjustable aluminum bed rack gives you flexibility to mount:
-
Rooftop tents
-
Recovery boards
-
Awnings
-
Fuel and water storage
-
Bikes or cargo boxes
The universal fit design makes it accessible for a wide range of truck platforms, which is great for customers who want modularity without custom fabrication pricing.
Why We’re Carrying It
Here’s the honest conversation:
Budget-friendly doesn’t automatically mean low quality.
Premium pricing doesn’t automatically mean superior.
What matters is:
-
Materials used
-
Hardware quality
-
Weld integrity
-
Coating durability
-
Warranty support
-
Real-world performance
We’ve had our hands on the OPENROAD lineup. We’ve checked the construction. We’ve looked at the hardware. We’ve compared it to other products in the space.
So far, it’s impressed us enough to put it on the floor.
That doesn’t mean it’s the same as every premium-tier brand.
It does mean it offers a strong value proposition for someone who wants to get into overlanding without overspending.
Transparency Matters
We’ll always be honest about what we carry — and why.
If something doesn’t hold up, we’ll say it.
If something punches above its price point, we’ll say that too.
This video is the beginning of that conversation.
More detailed installs, long-term reviews, and real-world feedback are coming soon.
