Field Feather – Replaceable Blade Folding Knife

Precision where it counts. Confidence in the field.

The Field Feather was built for hunters and backcountry users who demand surgical precision without babying their blade. With interchangeable blades, a rock-solid dual-lock, and built-in fire-starting capability, this knife is purpose-built for field dressing, caping, and camp tasks where sharp matters most.

Patented tool-free blade lock. Designed and engineered in-house, the Field Feather’s locking system has earned a U.S. utility patent. Inspired by the safety locks used on firearms, it holds each blade firmly in place, then releases it without tools. Other tool-free designs can drop their blade when bumped. The Field Feather’s won’t.

Two blade types, included. Straight #60XT surgical blades for skinning and field dressing, plus curved surgical blades for detail work around antlers, eyes and ears. Most replaceable-blade knives come with one blade type. The Field Feather comes with both.

Why the Field Feather earns its place in your kit

BUILT TO LAST
Using standard, interchangeable #60XT surgical blades, the Field Feather keeps you cutting clean without worrying about blade damage. Swap a blade in seconds and keep working.

PATENTED DUAL LOCK
A dual locking mechanism securely holds the blade in place during use and makes blade changes fast, safe, and tool-free—no flex, no guesswork.

MULTI-USE FIRE STARTING
Integrated EverSpark™ wheel technology throws reliable sparks without fuel. Think lighter-style action, more sparks, and zero fluid—perfect for igniting tinder or camp stoves.

DURABLE CARRY
Includes a rugged nylon carry case with a secure belt loop, giving you a safe, accessible carry option in the field or around camp.

VERSATILE BLADE KIT INCLUDED
Each Field Feather comes with 7 replaceable blades:

  • 4 × #60XT straight-edge blades
  • 3 × curved blades
All store neatly in the included carry box.

⚠️ Important Blade Clarification (Please Read)

We want to be fully transparent:

  • The Field Feather is designed for #60XT surgical blades.
  • Due to a labeling error, blades and packaging are misprinted as “#60.”
  • This is incorrect. The blades included and required are #60XT blades, not #60. The knife also accepts #21 blades.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion. Rest assured, this does not affect performance—the knife, blade fit, and dual-locking mechanism remain superior to other replaceable-blade knives on the market.

Benefits of Field Feather as a caping knife:

  1. Precision Work: It excels at delicate tasks like skinning around the eyes, nose, and antlers.
  2. Trophy Preparation: Essential for preserving hides when mounting animal trophies.
  3. Reduced Damage: Minimizes the risk of cutting or damaging the hide.
  4. Blade Shape: Features a fine-tipped, curved blade for precise cuts.
  5. Versatility: Handy for general field dressing and working in tight spaces.
  6. Minimizing Waste: Leaves behind only what's needed for the mount.
  7. Taxidermy: Used by taxidermists to create realistic, undamaged mounts.

Can’t say enough good things about Mike and the Spirit team. Definitely the go-to shop for all things camp / overland / outdoor. He helped me figure out what roof rack would work best for my 4Runner, and the rooftop tent + awning that fit my budget and what I was looking for. Don’t miss out on their camp accessories and gear either — 5 stars all around.

Mike over at Spirit is an absolute legend in the overlanding space here in Colorado. He’s been in the industry long enough to easily identify a fad versus a trend and is passionate about quality products that will make your time outdoors better. He knows the products he sells and is committed to finding the perfect fit for your adventure rig. I can’t recommend him and his team enough.

Mike and Spirit of 1876 are top notch, he's the most knowledgeable person I've found in the overland/accessory market and he'll tell you what products are worth your while, and which are not based on real world experience... He sells only the best products, and doesn't sell what's popular just because XYZ company put a bunch of money into marketing. Trust Mike with your next purchase of anything in the overland accessory field, he won't steer you wrong.
