This is the XTR1 Bed Rack for Retrax XR Covers — purpose-built to mount directly to the Retrax XR tonneau cover's integrated T-slot rails (cover sold separately — this listing is the rack). If you run a Retrax XR cover and thought a bed rack meant giving up your tonneau, the XTR1 Retrax XR Build mounts directly to the cover’s own T-slot rails, so you keep your weather-sealed, locking bed and gain a full overland & utility rack on top — no drilling, no compromise.

What it does

The XTR1 Bed Rack for Retrax XR Covers mounts securely to your cover’s T-slot rails, turning your F-150 bed into a fully modular cargo platform. Carry a rooftop tent, awning, recovery gear, fuel, and water on top, while keeping the bed underneath locked and weather-sealed. Works as a F-150 ladder rack, a cargo rack for lumber and conduit, or a no-nonsense overland basecamp — built from solid T-slot aluminum, not flimsy sheet metal.

Built for the Retrax XR Cover

This is not a universal bracket forced to fit. The XTR1 Retrax XR Build ships pre-configured for the Retrax XR’s integrated T-slot rail system — the bedrail brackets connect your uprights straight to the cover, so the rack and the tonneau work as one. Already running a Retrax XR on your F-150? This is your exact-fit rack.

Why XTR1 is different

The XTR1 is our original four-upright bed rack and the foundation that established the Xtrusion Overland rack system. Its open design provides excellent side access, outstanding accessory compatibility, and a clean layout that’s equally at home on work trucks, overland builds, and daily drivers. It comes with 4 uprights (one in each corner), 2 side braces, 2 top crossbars, and 2 top support braces. Fewer moving parts, lighter weight, and a clean, traditional look that ages well under trail dust and jobsite grime.

  • Solid extruded aluminum — the strongest, lightest, most modular material on the market, with no rust and no sacrifice in features.
  • T-slot on every linear surface — near-infinite mounting points; mount anything in any position and reconfigure in minutes.
  • 4 uprights (one in each corner) — classic, proven load distribution for tents, awnings, recovery gear, and commercial gear.
  • Tonneau-friendly by design — built around your Retrax XR cover, not in spite of it.

Choose XTR1 if you...

Want more than just a rack. It is the starting point for a modular truck system. Start with the bed rack, then add accessories as your needs change. Depending on your setup, the XTR1 can work with MOLLE panels, AXS Gates, slide-out storage, recovery gear mounts, lighting, water storage, and other rack-mounted accessories.

Because the rack is built around T-slot extrusion, you can continue adapting the layout instead of replacing the entire system as your build grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this rack work with a Softopper, FasTop, or Bestop on my F-150?

No. This rack is designed to mount to your Retrax XR tonneau cover’s T-slot rails. If you run a canvas-style soft topper, look at our XTR1 Soft Topper Bed Rack or XTR3 Soft Topper Bed Rack instead, both of which are built at a 13.3° angle to match your topper’s sidewalls.

Does this require drilling into my F-150?

No. The rack mounts directly to the Retrax XR cover’s T-slot rails using the included bedrail brackets. No permanent modifications to your truck or cover, and no compromising your factory finish.

Can’t say enough good things about Mike and the Spirit team. Definitely the go-to shop for all things camp / overland / outdoor. He helped me figure out what roof rack would work best for my 4Runner, and the rooftop tent + awning that fit my budget and what I was looking for. Don’t miss out on their camp accessories and gear either — 5 stars all around.

Mike over at Spirit is an absolute legend in the overlanding space here in Colorado. He’s been in the industry long enough to easily identify a fad versus a trend and is passionate about quality products that will make your time outdoors better. He knows the products he sells and is committed to finding the perfect fit for your adventure rig. I can’t recommend him and his team enough.

Mike and Spirit of 1876 are top notch, he's the most knowledgeable person I've found in the overland/accessory market and he'll tell you what products are worth your while, and which are not based on real world experience... He sells only the best products, and doesn't sell what's popular just because XYZ company put a bunch of money into marketing. Trust Mike with your next purchase of anything in the overland accessory field, he won't steer you wrong.
